Job Description:

Practice Area: Labor & Employment Defense

Experience: 2017–2021 Class Years (4–9 years PQE)

Bar Requirement: New York State Bar admission

The transition from mid-level to senior associate is often where the path to partnership becomes either crystal clear or entirely obscured. We are representing an elite, globally recognized defense firm seeking a senior Labor and Employment associate who is ready to step out of the briefing trenches and into a primary execution role on some of the most high-stakes workplace disputes in the country. This is a deliberate lateral move for an attorney who wants to trade volume-based practice for high-profile, bet-the-company litigation and sensitive internal investigations.

The Work

The practice focuses heavily on complex employer-side defense, with a particular emphasis on high-impact class and representative actions. You will not be relegated to document review or minor motion practice; instead, you will actively shape the strategy for:

  • High-Stakes Class Action Defense: Leading the defense against large-scale wage and hour claims and systemic, multi-plaintiff discrimination lawsuits.
  • Sensitive Internal Investigations: Conducting high-profile workplace investigations on behalf of corporate boards and executive leadership teams.
  • Strategic Advisory: Providing sophisticated, proactive compliance counsel to enterprise-level clients navigating rapidly shifting regulatory frameworks.

Who This Is For

You are a senior litigation associate (Class of 2017–2021) currently practicing within a peer national or international firm. You have a minimum of three years of dedicated labor and employment experience, with a proven track record in federal and state courts.

Widening the Funnel: While substantial, hands-on experience navigating the class action space is highly advantageous, we also welcome inquiries from strong commercial litigators with a deep interest in employment law who have handled complex class actions or high-stakes investigations and want to specialize.

The Platform

This firm offers one of the most formidable, highly ranked labor and employment platforms in the world. For a senior associate, the draw here is infrastructure and trajectory: you will work alongside market-leading practitioners who regularly try cases, while benefiting from an institutional commitment to associate development, transparent partner-track milestones, and a collaborative culture that rejects the sharp-elbowed environment common at this tier.

Compensation and Benefits

The firm provides a market-leading compensation structure that rewards top-tier talent:

  • Base Salary Range: $310,000 to $435,000 (determined by class year, qualifications, and experience).
  • Bonuses: Discretionary, performance-based annual bonuses aligned with top-of-market standards.
  • Total Rewards: A comprehensive corporate package including premium medical, dental, and vision coverage; retirement benefits and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs); generous paid time off (vacation and sick leave); paid parental leave; and fully employer-paid basic life insurance.
