Senior Litigation Associate — Fort Lauderdale, FL

  • Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA
  • Full-Time
  • On-Site

Job Description:

Defense-side complex litigation · 5+ years · Florida Bar required

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A nationally recognized labor and employment defense firm is expanding its Fort Lauderdale litigation team and is looking for a senior associate who is ready to own matters, not just work them.

This is a seat for a litigator with five or more years of defense-side complex litigation experience who has been running sophisticated cases largely on their own — and wants a platform that rewards that. You'll handle matters end to end, work directly with clients, and have real room to grow your own practice. Candidates further along in their careers are encouraged to apply; some portable business is a plus at the more senior end, but it isn't a gate.

The work

You'll manage complex litigation from intake through resolution — the substantive parts, not the overflow:

  • Drafting and responding to pleadings, and building case strategy from the outset
  • Owning written and electronic discovery, including e-discovery strategy on data-heavy matters
  • Drafting and arguing dispositive and non-dispositive motions
  • Taking and defending depositions
  • Leading or playing a substantial role in mediations and trials
  • Mentoring junior associates and steering litigation teams

Who this is for

Employment litigation experience is welcome, but it isn't a prerequisite. The firm is equally interested in strong commercial and complex-defense litigators from other practice areas who want to build an employment practice on a market-leading platform. If you've been carrying hard cases and want a bigger stage to grow them on, this is worth a conversation.

You likely bring:

  • Strong academic credentials and genuinely advanced writing and advocacy
  • A track record of managing multiple complex matters without close supervision
  • Sound judgment, initiative, and the kind of presence clients and juries trust
  • A collaborative instinct — you make the team around you better
  • An appetite for business development and a long-term view of your practice

Admission to the Florida Bar is required. Experience with wage-and-hour litigation, wage-and-hour compliance counseling, and Department of Labor investigations is a plus.

The platform

This is one of the most technically forward firms in its space — early and serious adopters of the tools that make litigation faster and sharper, inside a culture that expects lawyers to think about how the work gets done, not just that it gets done. For a senior associate, that means better leverage on your time and more room to do the work that actually moves cases.

Why Fort Lauderdale

South Florida is one of the fastest-growing legal markets in the country, and Fort Lauderdale offers a rare combination: serious, sophisticated work alongside a genuinely good life outside the office. No state income tax, year-round coastline, and none of the cost-of-living or commute drag of the larger northern markets.

Compensation and benefits

Market-competitive compensation, with origination credit for the business you bring and a genuine path to building your own book. The package includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous paid time off and paid parental leave
  • 401(k) with carve-out election and profit sharing
  • Life insurance and long-term disability coverage
  • Employee assistance program
  • Optional critical illness, accident and hospital indemnity, student-loan refinancing, dependent life, and pet insurance
